Besides the four main parks of Disney World, Orlando also is home to two Universal Parks and Seaworld Orlando. Further afield you have Busch Gardens and Legoland, not to mention four thrilling Water Parks - more than enough to keep any family entertained for a whole vacation!

Disney World Resort

The Walt Disney World Resort covers a vast 47 square mile area, just south of Orlando

The Disney World Resort offers offers a wide range of activities, including:

4 Main Theme Parks:

Magic Kingdom – The original Disney park, this is where Mickey and his friends hang out.  With the beautiful Cinderella Castle at its heart the park has themed ‘lands’ where you can discover a fun ride, a unique shopping experience or a Disney character at every turn.  Tinkerbell starts proceedings after dark for ‘Wishes’, a breathtaking firework specatacular.

Epcot – Disneys ‘Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow’ is dominated by the iconic geosphere (or big ball to you and me).  With attractions based on Science and Technology this is the most interesting of Disneys parks.  Take a trip around the world in the ‘World Showcase’ to experience the sights, sounds and tastes from around the world.  Evening time also brings the stunning ‘Illuminations’ firework show.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios – With a behind the scenes look at the magic of Hollywood, this park offers a fun day for everyone from the youngest members of the family, with Playhouse Disney and Ariel, to the oldest at the ‘Great Movie Ride’.  Thrill seekers will be happy with the ‘Tower of Terror’ and ‘Rock n Rollercoaster’.  Be sure to stay for ‘Fantasmic’ a spectacular nighttime show.

and Animal Kingdom – ‘Natazu’ is the motto here and Disney cleverly offer animal viewing in as natural a setting as possible.  With a little Disney magic, the thrilling Expedition Everest, Kali River Rapids and shows including Nemo and The Lion King.

2 Water Parks:

Typhoon Lagoon – the main feature of Typhoon Lagoon is the huge surf wave in the central pool, ride it if you dare!  Other attractions at this tropical themed park include wateslides and a shark reef.

and Blizzard Beach – themed around the unlikely idea of a Snowstorm in central Florida, this park is perfect for the whole family, with plenty to keep everyone happy all day.

Plus Golf Courses, Leisure Activities and Downtown Disney – a huge entertainment area with themed Restaurants, Shopping, Entertainment, a Cinema Complex, Bowling and Cirque Du Soleil.

Seaworld Orlando

20-25 Minutes Drive

Seaworld Orlando gives visitors a thrilling day out, with the emphasis always on Marine Conservation.

The resort offers 3 parks:  Seaworld Orlando Adventure Park, Discovery Cove and Aquatica – Seaworld’s Water Park.

Seaworld Orlando – not to be missed are the ‘Horizons Dolphin Show’ and ‘Shamu’s Believe Show’. Rides include the ‘Kraken’ and ‘Manta’ coasters and the ‘Atlantis’ water ride.

Discovery Cove – this exclusive resort offers a limited number of guests a personal interaction. With Dolphin swims and a stunning park full of marine and bird life to relax in.

Aquatica – Seaworld’s newest attraction, a tropical themed Water Park.  With slides, lazy rivers and a huge lagoon wave pool.  A fun day out for the whole family.

Universal Orlando Resort

30 Minutes Drive

Universal Orlando Resort offers a fantastic resort to rival Disney

The resort offers two Theme Parks, with the Amazing World of Harry Potter and the beautiful Volcano Bay Water Park.

Volcano Bay – Opened in 2017, this water theme park offers thrills and relaxation in perfect harmony. Here, the TapuTapu™ wearable wristband lets you hold your place in the ride lines and reveal wondrous surprises with just a wave of your wrist. Great fun for the whole family.

Universal Studios – the original park at Universal Orlando, invites you to ‘Ride the Movies’.  A great park to wander around, the shows include Shrek 4D, Terminator, Jimmy Fallons New York and the Blues Brothers.  The main rides are ‘The Simpsons’, ‘Men in Black’, ‘Rip Ride Rockit’, ‘The Mummy’ and Transformers The Ride. You can also visit the world of Harry Potter at Diagon Alley and take a trip into Gringots Bank.

Islands of Adventure – Featuring the amazing ‘Wizarding World of Harry Potter’, which links to Diagon Alley at Universal Studios, you can visit Hogwarts and ride with Harry and his friends.  Other attractions include ‘The Hulk’ coaster a frightening journey through Jurassic Park.

Citywalk – the gateway to Universal Orlando’s parks, Citywalk has Restaurants, Shopping, a Cinema complex and Night Clubs.  Great to visit after dark.

Busch Gardens, Tampa

Busch Gardens

90 minutes drive

Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay is the ultimate family adventure park

Combining attractions and thrilling rides with more than 2000 animals Busch Gardens is one of the World’s largest Zoos. A little further to travel from Sunset Lakes but well worth it.

Features of Busch Gardens include some truly spectacular rides, including Sheikra, a vertical drop coaster and the exciting Cheetah Hunt, opened in 2011.

Busch Gardens also excels in providing ‘up close and personal’ viewing and interaction with a huge variety of animals.

Kennedy Space Center

70 minutes drive

Charting the progress of the US Space Program, Kennedy Space Center is a must see for any space fan

The scale of the Kennedy Space Center is something that needs to be experience to appreciate.  The tour includes the huge ‘Vehicle Assembly Building’ and the Space Shuttle launch pads.

The visitor centre gives visitors the chance to experience what it feels like from mission control on launch day then to see the and the awesome size of the ‘Saturn V’ rocket  and even to touch a piece of the moon!

Other attractions include ‘Meet an Astronaut’ and space flight simulators.
